Patricia Mortimer has been serving as the National Research Council’s Vice-President, Technology and Industry Support since March 2006. Prior to assuming this role, she had held the position of NRC’s Secretary General for 5 years. She joined NRC in 1979 as a Research Council Officer for the Environmental Secretariat that published scientific criteria for environmental quality. In 1985 she moved to the corporate policy group of NRC, leading this group for many years, eventually adding responsibility for communications, government relations and public awareness and spent 10 years as Executive Assistant to three NRC Presidents.

A native of Ottawa, Ms. Mortimer received her B.Sc. in Biology from Carleton University and a M.Sc. in Plant Ecology from the University of Alberta.

Patricia Mortimer est vice-présidente, Soutien technologique et industriel, du Conseil national de recherches du Canada depuis mars 2006. Avant d’assumer ce rôle, elle a occupé le poste de secrétaire générale du CNRC pendant 5 ans. Elle s’est jointe au CNRC en 1979 à titre d’agente du Conseil de recherches pour le Secrétariat de l’environnement, qui a publié les critères scientifiques pour la qualité de l’environnement. En 1985, elle a joint le groupe responsable de l’élaboration des politiques du CNRC, qu’elle a dirigé pendant de nombreuses années. À ces fonctions, se sont ajoutées ultérieurement la responsabilité des communications, des relations gouvernementales et de la sensibilisation du public. Pendant 10 ans, elle a assumé les fonctions d’adjointe exécutive auprès de trois présidents successifs du CNRC.

Native d’Ottawa, madame Mortimer a obtenu un baccalauréat en biologie de l’Université Carleton et une maîtrise en écologie végétale de l’Université de l’Alberta.
